Most couples don't arrive in crisis. They arrive tired — tired of the same cycle, the same disconnection, the same conversation that goes nowhere. That's often the best time to get help.
Couples therapy here is honest and structured. We'll work to understand not just what you fight about, but why — what's actually underneath it, and how each of you has learned to protect yourself in ways that hurt your partner.
What We Address
- Communication breakdown and chronic conflict
- Emotional distance and disconnection
- Infidelity and rebuilding trust
- Intimacy — emotional and physical
- Parenting disagreements and co-parenting stress
- Major life transitions affecting the relationship
- Considering separation — with clarity, not just emotion
- Premarital counseling and preparation
What to Expect
The first session is typically a joint session to understand the relationship history and what's bringing you in. From there, I may meet with each of you individually before we continue together. This isn't about taking sides — it's about understanding each person fully before doing the deeper work.
I'm direct in couples work. I'll name what I'm seeing. I'll hold both of you accountable. And I'll keep the focus on what you actually want — not just the absence of conflict, but a real relationship.
Couples Counseling at Bowman Field — and Across Kentucky
Sessions are in person at my office in the historic Bowman Field terminal — a 1929 Art Deco building with runway views and enough quiet to actually talk. Couples come from the Highlands, St. Matthews, Crescent Hill, Jeffersontown, and across Louisville; telehealth is available for couples anywhere in Kentucky, including those juggling schedules, kids, or distance.
How Much Does Couples Counseling Cost in Louisville?
Couples sessions are $225 for 50 minutes. I don't bill insurance directly — couples therapy is rarely well-covered, and private pay keeps a relationship diagnosis off your record. I provide superbills you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and a sliding scale is available on request. No surprises, no hidden fees.
Common Questions
Do you take insurance for couples therapy?
No — I'm a private-pay practice. After each session I can provide a superbill, which many clients submit to their insurance for partial out-of-network reimbursement. This also keeps a couples-therapy diagnosis off your insurance record, which some couples prefer.
What happens in the first session?
The first session is typically a joint session to understand your relationship history and what's bringing you in. From there, I may meet with each of you individually before we continue together — not to take sides, but to understand each person fully before doing the deeper work.
How long does couples counseling take?
It depends on what you're working on. Some couples come for a focused stretch of a few months; others stay longer to work through deeper patterns. We'll talk openly about progress and timeline as we go — you'll never be left guessing.
Do you offer couples counseling online?
Yes. I see couples in person at my Bowman Field office in Louisville and by telehealth anywhere in Kentucky.
Do we need to be married to come in?
No. I work with dating, engaged, married, and separated couples — including premarital counseling and couples deciding whether to stay together.
