Adult Therapy in Louisville, KY

Therapy that meets you where you are — not where you think you should be. For anxiety, depression, grief, relationship patterns, and the weight of things left unspoken.

People come to therapy carrying many different things. Some arrive after years of knowing something needed to change. Others come in crisis. Some just have a quiet sense that they've been living smaller than they're capable of.

Whatever brought you here, adult psychotherapy offers a space to slow down, look honestly at what's happening, and begin moving through it — with someone who won't flinch at the hard parts.

What We Work On

  • Anxiety, worry, and stress that won't let up
  • Depression, low mood, and loss of meaning
  • Grief and loss — anticipated or sudden
  • Life transitions: divorce, career change, empty nest, retirement
  • Trauma and its long reach into the present
  • Relationship patterns — with partners, family, yourself
  • Identity questions and major life decisions
  • Men's mental health and emotional development

How It Works

Sessions are typically 50 minutes, weekly or biweekly. The first few sessions are about understanding your history, what's happening now, and what you actually want from therapy — not just symptoms to manage, but a real sense of what a better version of your life looks like.

Therapy with me tends to be direct, collaborative, and honest. I'll tell you what I'm noticing. I'll ask the questions others might sidestep. And I'll push when it's useful — always with your goals in mind.

A Therapist at Bowman Field — and Across Kentucky

I see clients in person on the first floor of the historic Bowman Field terminal — a 1929 Art Deco building with warm light and a view of the planes taxiing by, an easy drive from the Highlands, Germantown, St. Matthews, Middletown, and most of Louisville. Secure telehealth is available for adults anywhere in Kentucky.

How Much Does Therapy Cost in Louisville?

Individual sessions are $175 for 50 minutes. I don't bill insurance directly — private pay means no required diagnosis on your record and no insurer deciding how long your therapy lasts. I provide superbills for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and a sliding scale is available on request. Not sure yet? Therapist, Psychologist, or Psychiatrist — What Do I Need?

If you're looking for talk therapy — someone to work through anxiety, depression, grief, or a life that's gotten heavy — a licensed therapist is what most people mean. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I provide psychotherapy. Psychologists often focus on psychological testing and assessment; psychiatrists are physicians who manage medication. If testing or medication turns out to be part of your path, I'll help you find the right referral and coordinate care.

Common Questions

Do you take insurance?

No — I'm a private-pay practice. After each session I can provide a superbill, which many clients submit for partial out-of-network reimbursement. Private pay also means no diagnosis is required on your insurance record and no insurer decides how long your therapy lasts.

What happens in the first session?

The first few sessions are about understanding your history, what's happening now, and what you actually want from therapy. You don't need to have it figured out before you arrive — that's the work, and we do it together.

How often will we meet?

Sessions are 50 minutes, typically weekly or biweekly to start. As things improve, many people taper to less frequent sessions. We'll decide the rhythm together based on what you're working on.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes. I see clients in person at my Bowman Field office in Louisville and by secure telehealth anywhere in Kentucky.
